Is It Difficult To Get A New Website?
Whether this is your first website or the replacement of something which is showing its age, it can be a daunting prospect having to tackle a new website project.
We work on websites all day every day so it comes easy to us, but this might be a new experience for you. We aim to make it as painless as possible, though it will take some work.
To help give you a high level overview of how we work and what you should expect from the project, we’ve broken our process down for you, starting with the initial enquiry all the way through to delivering your new website.
Daunting…Maybe! – Painless…Hopefully! – Requires work…Yes! – Difficult…No!
Enquiry Stage
Details
First we need some initial details from you about the project or website you would like us to help with. The simplest way to ask you our initial set of questions is through our online Website Questionnaire.
It’s really important to start with the basics and make sure we get all the information we need right at the out set. Using our questionnaire makes sure we don’t miss anything and helps us give you the best service we possibly can. It asks some questions about what you are looking for, why do you need a new website and what are your business goals for the website, plus a few more. Don’t worry if you can’t answer all the questions, but the more complete your answers are, the better for both of us.
Discuss
If the details you provide show we are a good fit for each other, we will set up an Initial Meeting to discuss your requirements in even more detail. We will ask you the right questions until you beg us to stop. This meeting can be face to face or online.
The most important thing at this point is having the right people attend.
Proposal
Okay, so we are also disappointed that this one broke our alliteration and we couldn’t come up with a word beginning with ‘D’ for our proposal step. However, it is what it says on the tin.
We create a great proposal based on all the details from your Website Questionnaire answers and from our initial meeting. Our Proposal will detail our understanding of the project and your investment required to complete your website based on your requirements.
Delivery Stage
Discover
On acceptance of our proposal, we get down to the nitty-gritty of your online marketing requirements by holding an in depth Discovery Session where we dig deep and look at your business processes and how your new website will achieve your business goals, along with anything else you may need along the way. This gives us a clear understanding of your business and a clearer picture of what we need to do for you.
Draft
Having all the necessary information at hand, we can now begin to put together a structure for your website. We do this by creating a Sitemap of your website. This gives us an agreed basis to work from.
From the Sitemap we create either a Wireframe or a working Prototype of your website to give you a feel for how users will interact with the website and so we can iron out any tricky functional issues before we begin building the final website. It also allows you to see where your content will be positioned on the web pages.
Design
Having agreed the structure and layout of your site we can get on with the Design. The interface your visitors will see when they land on your website. This is the step where your website begins to come to life and look like a website and where we make sure you love it.
Develop
Once we come up with a design you love, we get to work on building your website. We take care of the techy stuff so you don’t have to. We take a picture and create a living breathing website. Okay so that’s maybe a little too much excitement, but together we finalise the Build of your website so you are completely happy with the result and it is ready to go live.
Deploy
We have lift off! Once all the development is complete, everything is signed off and everyone is happy to go for Launch, we will go through our extensive pre-launch checklist to ensure your website is fully ready for the big day. We will plan and agree a launch strategy, and we will get your site live.
After Care
Once your website has been launched, we always tell our clients:
“This is not the end, it’s just the beginning”
Your new investment needs to be looked after and regularly maintained. Websites are no longer fire and forget. Software gets out of date. Security patches need applied. Updates need to be made.
If you never touch your website again after launch, you can guarantee it will eventually break if it doesn’t get hacked first. We strongly suggest you implement some after care.
